How to Sell a Digital Product on Instagram: 9 tips to make daily sales from your digital products

How to sell a digital product on Instagram

Are you wondering how to sell a digital product on Instagram and make consistent sales?

In our previous blog, we explored the initial steps for creating and launching your digital product. Today, we will dive into the crucial phase that follows the launch: how to sell a digital product on Instagram continuously.

If you want to make daily sales, it's essential to talk about your product every day from various angles and perspectives. Here are nine effective Instagram placements where you can and should promote your product consistently.

1. The first and most powerful placement is Instagram Stories

90% of your sales will come from your Instagram stories if used properly. Pitch your product in stories at least once a day using different story sequences. Sequencing is KEY to make sales. You can’t just post one story asking people to buy your product. Your story sequences should take the viewer on a journey. Here are some ideas for your to pitch your digital product:

  • Behind-the-Scenes: Show the creation process.

  • Customer Testimonials: Share reviews from satisfied customers.

  • Usage Tips: Demonstrate how to use your product effectively.

  • Exclusive Offers: Announce limited-time discounts or bonuses.

2. The second placement, and often overlooked, is the Highlights

Have a dedicated highlight that serves as a micro-landing page. Make sure this highlight includes key information about your product, such as features, benefits, testimonials, and purchase links or keywords. This highlight serves as a quick reference for anyone visiting your profile, providing them with all the essential details in one place.

3. The third placement is our beloved Reels!

Use reels strategically to drive interest in your product. Reels can be highly engaging and reach a broader audience. Experiment with different types of reels, such as:

  • Educational Reels: Share tips related to your product's niche.

  • Behind-the-Scenes Reels: Show how your product is made or how to use it.

  • Testimonial Reels: Feature customer reviews and success stories.

  • Trend Reels: Incorporate popular trends or challenges that can be related to your product.

4. Then, make use Instagram Captions to increase your sales!

Use storytelling in your captions to support the post and always end with a CTA. Captions are an excellent way to connect with your audience on a deeper level. Share stories about why you created the product, how it can solve their problems, and real-life examples of its benefits. Always include a call-to-action, inviting your followers to comment, share, or DM you a keyword if they're interested in learning more.

5. The fifth placement is Carousels

Carousels are great for conversions. Use carousel posts to educate your audience about the problem your product solves and how it can help them. Each slide can address a different aspect of the problem, leading up to the final slide, which pitches your product as the solution. This format encourages users to swipe through and engage with your content.

Here are three types of conversion-focused carousels:

  • Problem-Solution Format: Start with the problem and lead to your product as the solution.

  • Step-by-Step Guides: Provide useful tips that relate to your product.

  • Testimonial Showcase: Highlight positive reviews and experiences from customers, ending with a CTA to purchase.

6. The sixth placement is one of my favorite, Instagram Lives!

Instagram lives always bring in lots of sales! Go live at least once per week to discuss the topic your product addresses. Use this opportunity to engage with your audience in real-time, answer questions, and pitch your product multiple times throughout the live session. Lives provide a direct and personal way to connect with potential customers.

7. The seventh placement is where you’ll recover most of your lost sales, can you guess?.... Your DMs!

Here's where most of your sales will happen if your Instagram stories don’t convert. Many followers will have questions or need reassurance before making a purchase. Be proactive in your DMs, offering personalized responses and support. Use DM automation tools to streamline the process and ensure timely follow-ups. Building relationships in the DMs can turn hesitant followers into loyal customers.

8. The eighth placement is almost never used… Your Closed Friends List!

Create a closed friends list to create a sense of exclusivity. Use this feature to share more personal content, behind-the-scenes moments, and exclusive offers. The sense of exclusivity can make your followers feel special and more connected to you, increasing their likelihood of purchasing your product.

9. And last but not least, use the Broadcast Channels feature

Use broadcast channels to share your product link with context. While not available to everyone, broadcast channels can be an effective way to reach a specific audience segment. Use these channels to provide context about your product, share updates, and include direct links for easy access.

Wrapping Up

Promoting your digital product on Instagram requires consistent and varied engagement with your audience. By utilizing stories, highlights, reels, captions, carousels, lives, DMs, closed friends, and broadcast channels, you can keep your product top-of-mind and drive daily sales.
